Originally acquired to serve as the tender for a larger yacht, it was purpose-built with one objective: create an exceptionally capable, reliable and high-performance tender that could be driven long distances under its own power rather than simply being towed.
The boat has been personally captained from Florida throughout the Bahamas and Exumas, including trips to islands more than 400 miles away. It was extensively upgraded for exactly this type of use, combining the performance characteristics Airship RIBs are known for with a substantial investment in electronics, stabilization, audio, lighting, comfort and professional marine electrical work.

520 HP MERCURY POWER
Power comes from a 520-horsepower Mercury/MerCruiser gasoline engine, installed as a replacement for the boat's original diesel powerplant.
According to the owner, the engine was purchased as a new Mercury crate engine, and an additional Mercury factory extended warranty was subsequently purchased at a cost of approximately $7,000. Current warranty coverage, expiration date and transferability are subject to verification.
With its current equipment configuration, the boat has reportedly reached approximately 67–68 MPH. Even when heavily loaded with passengers and equipment for extended trips, the owner reports speeds exceeding 60 MPH.
EXTENSIVE CUSTOM BUILD
Approximately $60,000 was invested during the initial outfitting of the boat, including the custom T-top, electronics, large multifunction displays, premium audio system, Seakeeper Ride system and associated equipment.
Rather than accepting the initial electrical installation, the owner subsequently sent the boat to Boatronics for an extensive professional rewiring. Approximately $11,000 was invested specifically in having the electrical installation redone, followed by approximately $4,000 to reinforce the T-top structure.
The result is a boat that was built not simply for appearance, but for serious offshore use.
SEAKEEPER RIDE
One of the most significant additions is the approximately $15,000 Seakeeper Ride system.
The system provides automatic underway vessel attitude control, helping manage pitch, roll and running attitude without requiring constant manual trim adjustment. For a fast RIB intended to make substantial open-water runs, this was a major part of the owner's build.
PREMIUM JL AUDIO SYSTEM
The boat features an extensive JL Audio marine sound system, representing approximately $15,000 of the build according to the owner.
Multiple JL Audio speakers are integrated throughout the cockpit and T-top, along with dedicated marine subwoofers, amplification and associated equipment.
This was not added as a basic stereo package—the audio system was incorporated as part of the boat's comprehensive custom build.
GARMIN ELECTRONICS & CUSTOM HELM
The helm was extensively customized and features large multifunction displays capable of displaying and exchanging navigation and vessel information.
The boat was previously equipped with both a Garmin radar and approximately $6,000 FLIR thermal/night-vision camera. Those two components have been removed; however, the associated wiring remains in the boat.
That means the boat is already pre-wired for the addition of compatible radar and FLIR equipment, eliminating much of the labor normally associated with routing new wiring through a completed vessel.
SHADOW-CASTER DIGITAL LIGHTING
A sophisticated Shadow-Caster lighting system provides digital control of the boat's lighting, including configurable underwater lighting.
The rear underwater lights alone represented approximately $3,500 installed, according to the owner, with selectable colors and lighting effects.
CUSTOM T-TOP & SHADE SYSTEM
The custom T-top was added as part of the original build and was subsequently professionally reinforced.
Additional custom forward and aft shade/canvas systems represent approximately $10,000 of investment. According to the owner, the system was specifically constructed for use while the boat is underway at substantial speeds.
BUILT FOR LONG-DISTANCE USE
This is where this particular Airship separates itself from a typical recreational RIB.
It wasn't built simply to travel from a yacht to the dock.
The owner specifically configured the boat to operate independently and has personally used it for extensive passages from Florida through the Bahamas and Exumas. Its combination of high horsepower, stabilization, electronics, seating, shade, audio and equipment was developed through actual long-distance use.
A freshwater transom shower with dedicated tank was also added for additional convenience during extended trips.
AIRSHIP RIB DESIGN
The Airship configuration combines a performance-oriented fiberglass hull with the practicality of inflatable perimeter tubes.
For yacht-tender use, the tubes provide an enormous advantage when rafting alongside larger vessels by effectively creating a protective perimeter around the boat. At the same time, the underlying hull provides the performance characteristics expected from a serious high-speed powerboat.
The result is a platform equally suited for use as a luxury yacht tender, island-hopping boat, performance RIB or standalone recreational vessel.
